About the Chevrolet Depreciation and Resale Value Estimator
Understanding resale value helps with trade-in decisions and total cost of ownership. The Chevrolet Depreciation and Resale Value Estimator organizes vehicle details and comparable listings to estimate a possible resale-value range.
Enter model, year, trim, mileage, condition, original purchase price, and up to three comparable listing prices. The tool blends comparables with a depreciation curve to produce a low, mid, and high estimate.
Formula used
if comparables entered:
average = mean of comparable prices
mileage adjustment = -0.05 x ((mileage - 12000 x age) / 10000) if above average miles
condition factor = 1.05 (excellent), 1.0 (good), 0.92 (fair), 0.85 (poor)
estimate = average x (1 + mileage adjustment) x condition factor
else:
estimate = purchase price x 0.85^age x condition factor
range = estimate x 0.9 to estimate x 1.1
How to use
